Irish Museum of Modern Art - Earth Rising

This artwork is one of a series of works on the topic of plastic pollution in our seas and in particular washed up on our shorelines. It was shown in IMMA formal gardens at the 2024 Earth Rising Festival.

Gaia, the Earth’s systems, throws our plastic pollution back at us in an effort to get us to see our own end if we don’t take care of her. This particular work is made to inspire imagination which is the foundation of empathy. Empathy for the non-human is necessary for the survival of humans – we are all one system.
