Uillinn Gallery Exhibition - MAAE Final Work

This final work was a result of a year and a half of research into how we treat and feel about our shorelines - this is how Niamh's art expresses what she found and felt. This work is about nostalgia vs reality: an expression of the tension between beach aesthetics, nostalgia and the reality of pollution and erosion encroaching on littoral spaces. Niamh used nostalgia and irony to activate curiosity and used personal reflections on vacation rock-pooling to create a juxtaposition against the reality of pollution and erosion today. Humans have harmed the environment. The environment will go on in different iterations, humans will most likely go extinct leaving the evidence of what we've done behind us.
